Health and Safety

It is the policy of SacOil to ensure that all management and workers comply with the safety requirements necessary for industrial sites where heavy equipment is in use and hazardous conditions prevail. This rigorous approach to safety will be imposed on all contractors and will be part of their engagement documentation and thus be contractual.

SacOil will require that wherever possible indigenous people will be employed. It is likely that these new employees will have little safety awareness. SacOil and contractors will introduce basic safety programmes immediately after engagement and before commencement of work. This will be followed up by refresher courses. All teaching will be based on the premiss that every person is responsible for his own safety and awareness of potential danger will be stressed.

Accident monitoring and prevention programmes will be implemented and statistics produced. The intention of SacOil is that any exploration, development or production site has a nil accident frequency rate. However close surveillance will be maintained to ensure that the accident frequency rates compare favourably with international statistics.

Again when production sites commence, safety standards will be commensurate with industry norms and safety programmes will most probably be operated by industry safety specialists and outsourced.
